Vice President of Business Operations
W. Andy Harrison is the vice president, business operations, for AGL Networks, an AGL Resources subsidiary. He is responsible for back-office operations including revenue assurance; budgeting; GIS (geographic information systems) and record-keeping systems; finance; and contract management as well as engineering; field operations; maintenance; and implementation.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Harrison served as Networks’ managing director, business operations, and as city manager for Atlanta. His responsibilities included managing engineering, operations and construction for the company’s Atlanta network, which is encompasses 150 buildings, 400 route miles and 46,000 fiber miles. He was also director of project management, where he directed network implementation in Richmond, Va.; Kansas City, Mo.; St Louis, Mo.; and Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. Harrison has more than 24 years of utility operation, construction, design and project management experience. Prior to joining Networks, he held positions as design engineer, highway coordination supervisor, division engineer and operations supervisor at Atlanta Gas Light. His duties included negotiating the company’s contracts with the Georgia Department of Transportation and coordinating operations and engineering activities in the central Savannah River area of Georgia.
A past president of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers, Mr. Harrison currently serves on the board. He also sits on the executive boards of Mutual Savings Credit Union, the Boy Scouts of America and the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Harrison graduated cum laude with an associate of science in engineering degree from Middle Georgia College. He received a bachelor of civil engineering, also cum laude, from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his professional engineering license in 1988. He earned a master of business administration (cum laude) from Kennesaw State University.
He and his wife, Mary, live with their two daughters and one son—Jessica, Christie and Sidney—in Woodstock, Ga.
